Originally, a founding member of the Lazy River Writers, Michelle returned to the group in late 2005, after an absence of more than two years. She returned, determined to realise her dream - to be recognised as a children's author. After completing a short course in children's writing at the local Tafe, mid 2005, she began to tentatively send out samples of her work. A few months later, she was delighted to be offered her first contract with UC Publishing for a children's reader.
She has since had another children’s reader published with Thomson Nelson for the Australian and US markets.
Michelle has also worked as part of a team, writing and designing RE text books for Australian and NZ primary schools. She has recently completed two factual readers for a new literacy and numeracy series aimed at 8-10 year olds.
Her more recent projects include six commissioned works for Cengage Learning. These will be available from 2008 – 2010. They are a combination of fiction and non-fiction readers for 10 -14 year olds.
Michelle is keen to continue finding work in the educational market. Her passion, however, is picture books, and it is her long-term goal to see one of picture book texts in print!
She has also enrolled in a script-writing course at the local Tafe with the view to writing a theatre play.
